"Make me an offer" RANT!!! Opinions?

I'm just the opposite of quincy. I want no part of haggling as it wastes my time which I have so little of thanks to weekend work. Tell me the lowest price you'll accept for a card, include a reasonable postage and handling charge and I'll be more than happy to PayPal you. Don't try to see if you can sell it to me for far more than it's worth and I won't try to "steal" it from you.

That's why I hate car buying, just tell me what I need to pay and I'll do it. I can't go into Target or Wal-Mart and make them an offer. It's your card so tell me what you need for it.

Ignore as needed, just my two cents.

My problem with making on offer is this:

If the seller makes a post saying "Cards for sale". Guess what, its the seller of the card who should set the price. His cards, he wants the money. My problem with sellers with the make an offer is when you do make an offer (low or whatever), they snicker and treat you like an arse. Well when you say make an offer, Im making the offer I want to pay, not what u really think the card deserves.

AMEN! I'm more of a trader than a buyer/seller, but I know that this is the one thing that peeves me the most when finding something that I do wanna purchase

My thoughts are this - if I am actively selling off a bunch of stuff, I will take the time to look up the BVs or eBay sales and list what I would accept on the low end for the cards. If I am breaking a box/case like I did with Ultimate and I do not have a Beckett handy and people PM me during ro immediately following the break for either low numbered cards, or unique patches, or lots, or even RCs (which is the stuff people contact you right away for) then that's where I ask for offers. There's two reasons for this - the person making the contact is the person clearly demonstrating the interest in the card, which likely means they have put some discretionary "value" on acquiring it - so tell me what that "value" is. In the case of a lot of these cards, I have not had time to assess the value and would rather not throw out a number and leave any cash on the table. If I acquired the card on the secondary market and am now reselling it, then I likely have a great idea of what it's worth and what I would part with it for, but I'm not doing a lot of that these days.

I don't object to a little give and take, and don't mind negotiating an equitable deal whenever possible.
