The title says it all.....I passed by MLG last night as over the past couple months I have noticed some work being done to the place.....Well if you pass by it now on the Carlton street entrance.....You will see etched into the glass on the front doors a picture of MLG and underneath saying "GOODWIN CENTER"......Its a sad day in my opinion of the name change......But atleast the "GARDENS" will be open again for SKATING WITH THE STARS, hosted by RON MACLEAN and staring TIE DOMI......

I agree the city should of done something with it.It is sad to see what has
been going on there.....I might not be a Leaf fan but Hockey is Hockey and history
is history......

I'm not even a Leafs fan and I think that is sad. I guess MLG was one of the last, if not the last, arenas to not have a corporate name. Most of the corporate names sound silly imo, but that is the way of the world, so to speak. Can't survive without corporate sponsorship, it's a neccessary evil.

Joe Louis Arena
Madison Square Garden (though you could argue that the name spurred a corporation)
Nassau Veterans Memorial Colosseum

The difference is that those arenas are also in use. While I'm none too pleased that they changed the name, hopefully this spurns some form of use and thank the stars above that they haven't decided to tear her down.
