The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that the hockey club has signed free agent goaltender Jhonas Enroth to a one-year contract worth $750,000.

Enroth, 28, appeared in 16 regular season games with the Los Angeles Kings, posting a record of 7-5-1 with a .922 save percentage and a 2.17 goals against average. In 147 career regular season NHL games, Enroth has amassed a record of 50-66-15 with a .911 save percentage and a 2.80 goals against average. The Stockholm, Sweden native was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round (46th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Yeah, I'm super excited about this signing! Been collecting Enroth since 2011, and the Leafs have always been my favourite team, as I was born in Toronto. Glad to see Enroth stick somewhere! Now I'll have a few more cards to chase next year :)

Didn't see him play much last year but always thought Buffalo should have picked him up. I was impressed with his play with the Sabres. Great signing at IMO a bargain price.

I think this could be best bang for buck signing of the year. Anderson will be good but to have a very good backup or injury replacement will give confidence to the kids in front!

This is a pretty good story IMO. He was very well liked in Buffalo, and being so close the fans will get a chance to see him plenty in the coming season. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets more cheers than some of the Sabres in warm-ups.

Man if he plays for the Leafs like he did in Buffalo, than the Maple Leafs are a lot closer to the playoffs today than they were yesterday. He was stopping 52/54 shots a game for the Sabres when he was their full-time goalie. I had no idea why Buffalo didn't pursue him this offseason. I guess he wants to be a starter and probably wouldn't of signed.

I was wondering the same thing once the pickings got pretty slim, but I heard that Murray likes "big" goalies and Enroth doesn't fit that bill. Too bad, he would've been welcomed back here
