My LAST 16 cards, 20 years of collecting all i have left.

So a couple of years ago i started to sell off all of my cards (after collecting for the past 30 years on and off as a teenager), figured i needed to spend my card money on buying real gamers..mike gartner to be exact. Oh and let's be clear i am NOT selling off my Gartner collection. I have since picked up 3 gartner jerseys,and a few habs. I'm happy that in this time i haven't spend that much on cards (i caved and bought a case of the cup last year and pulled a crosby plate that sold on ebay for 190.00, that was all i needed to know about the value of busting wax) my point is , it hasn't been easy to stay away. i walk into my sports room/ office and i am so happy to see jerseys, sticks that i shouid be able to sell (if i had to) and get back most of my money if not all, if not make a few bucks! i was so sick of always busting boxes and coming up with mostly worthless cards, my problem was and is i collect mike gartner and habs. Habs is so wide and general and too much out there i couldn't focus, and mike gartner just isn't being produced. So here i am 2 maybe 3 years later i have sold 40% of the original collection but i really enjoyed making trades ..and lots of trades. It was a challenge to find colelctors who were willing to trade one card for a chunk of mine. it was fun and last week i bought one last pack for the hell of it..sweetshot you'll see the hits..nothing special at all. It was actually 2 and half weeks ago and it was significant because the company i work for was sold and i wasn't sure if i was going to stay on. The good news is the new owners want me to stay on a bit, the bad news is that i had a great deal going with the old owners(family) and now i actualy am making big time less money so the end result is i still don't have money for cards or jerseys right now
i am not sure what to do with these last few cards, a few were pulled from packs, a few were done in trade but these have been cards that i have wanted for a long time or cards that i loved picking up.
i guess i just wanted to say thanks to everyone who i have done or tried to do trades with, it was a nice distraction from some rough times. I am not going anywhere but i have vowed not to buy any cards..maybe superlatives

one other point , what the **** is up with upper deck and the nhl/nhlpa. I hate that a company as great as ITG can't get a licence. I won't write anther page but it is another reason i want out of the hobby. i have been so soured and feel personally outrages by this decision to excluded ITG. I want upper deck to suffer , and it would seem they are right now!! I know i haver suffered with the quality issues, and lousy replacements. Dr. Price keep the good work up. The Lidstrom/Cheli Shields is absolutely breathtakingly amazing! That's my dream card right there. The rest of your collection is great, but the shields....just wow.

I am always interested in the motivations of other collectors. Your thoughtfull story reminds me that life has its ups and downs, and that we need to have passion in life. I guess collectors find passion in collecting, but only because they are passionate about their lives. Thanks for the story.
