wonder if the Kings could be after Pominville? he's been asked for his list of 8 teams he won't go to, the Sabres are clearly in sell mode and there are reports the Kings and Sabres are still talking after the first deal.

Martinez + something for Pominville?

In all honesty I am probably still thinking that Regehr is still the same player that he was in Calgary so I am likely overvalueing him by a fair margin. I haven't watched a Sabres game all year so I don't have a great barometer on his game anymore.

wow, that would be great, i hear pominville is a super hard worker. trains real hard and plays.

but like timber says, i hope the kings arnt after the sabers underacheivers. they are a bad team for a reason.

the Sabres don't have a 1st line center, Miller has struggled and they overpaid for a few guys (Leino, Erhoff) and they've had a few injuries.

Pominville is a true 25-goal guy and he's a captain. He's a Sutter-type of player and would fit in great with Richards and Carter.

Regehr is what the Kings are looking for. He is experienced, he kills penalties and he's tough. Mitchell isn't coming back this year (or maybe ever) and Greene is iffy, so they needed some toughness.

the question is which d-man is set packing? my guess is Martinez but i've thought he'd be traded for over a year now.
 
I think Columbus would trade a 1st for Pominville, but I'm betting CBJ will be one of the teams on the No list. Blues have been active and have a ton of cap space, I could see them trying to snag Pominville.
 
Avs should have let O'Reilly go and taken the 1st and 3rd round picks from Calgary.

Did Calgary get way more for J-bo than they did for Iggy? I know that J-bo has 1 more year in his contract, but what happens if the Blues miss the playoffs, 2 years in a row. When does that new lottery rule for non-playoff teams kick in? Is there an outside chance that it could be for a 1st overall pick?

I think they got less for J-Bo, which is what is somewhat surprising considering J-Bo's contract situation. The pick from St. Louis could wind up being a bit better. But the two prospects they got from Pittsburgh are better; however, that is not necessarily saying much.

6.8 mill a year...that deal makes no sense for the Blues. I think the Blues are desperate. They have to do something because the team is in disarray after losing the last two regular season games last year, four in a row and then the last two games this year to the Kings. They know they have to face us and they know they can't even win one game. What they were missing was a first line player and a reliable player on D to pair with Pie. They can spend 6 mil on a first line player and should have spent like 5 mil on a D man. 6.8? That's crazy.

Sub out Martinez for a forward prospect. Toffoli + for Pominville...

...although I really don't see any need for Pominville. LA is the strongest team in the league when it comes to centers in terms of quantity and quality. (Pitt has the best top 2 obviously but no one will mistake B. Sutter for Richards or Carter).

The reason why people are complaining is that Regher is a rental. He is UFA at the end of the season and unlikely to re-sign with LA...not because he or LA don't want each other, it's purely for cap reasons...cap going down, Voynov cap hit going up, etc. However, if Willie Mitchell can't return, LA and Regher will come together like a Beatles song.

Pominville is a wing, not a center. I wouldn't trade Toffoli for him. Guys like Toffoli will be very valuable next year with the cap going down. Every team will be looking for a cheap source of goals.

But I'd still love Pominville on the Kings.
