Verified Trader,
Hello all,
The following cards are pickups from the month of October and November. As many are aware, I'm chasing very limited sets that are now 14 years old, so it is a daunting challenge to say the least. The aide I've received from the different forums and facebook group members in finding these cards has been superb, so thank you to everyone who has provided information leading to a purchase. Now onto the show!
#7. 2005-06 Victory Blaster Box
I was lucky enough to find and buy a blaster box of 2005-06 victory, which are becoming extremely difficult to find these days. My intention was to keep it sealed and preserve it, however, I noticed a small tear on the plastic seal of the box whixh most likely occurred during the shipping. I don't believe there was any foul play involved as the plastic wrap had the correct markings and the box did not appeared tampered with. So I decided to open the 12 packs in the hopes of finding a victory black parallel.
Unfortunately there were no black or gold parallels inside but I did pull some nice inserts. I also managed to pull the last base card I needed, Patrik Stefan, to complete the 200-card base set. Here are the hits:
I've got lots of base doubles if anyone needs one haha!
#6. 2005-06 UD Game Jersey Peter Sykora J-PSy (3-colour)
The first 3-colour Sykora from this series that I have seen, I has happy to upgrade it from the 2-colour copy I previously owned. So if anyone needs it, just send me a PM!
#5. 2005-06 UD Game Jersey Gary Roberts J-GR (3-colour)
The second 3-colour swatch card for my set is a nice Roberts, from what appears to be from a panthers jersey. I remember inquiring about this specific card a few years ago, but the seller did not want to break his set at the time. Really glad I was given a second chance to add it to the collection. Its not often I come across new 3-colour copies for my set, so to add two in the span of two months is something I can't imagine replicating for some time.
#4. 2005 UD Canadian Fall Expo Alyn McCauley #159 (2/10)
It has been a while since I added a new card to my Fall Expo set. Given that each is limited to just 10 copies, every addition is a special one. The McCauly gives me 63/250 or 25.2% of the set completed.
#3. 2005-06 UD Beehive Alex Perezhogin RC Gold #108 (/15)
Not to be confused with the base golden border version of this card, the gold parallels were extremely short printed and tough to pull. I have heard the rumour in the past that the gold versions were limited to 15 copies, though I have not been able to verify this claim. If anyone can confirm this rumour, I'd love to know!
#2. 2005-06 UD High Glossy Tyler Arnason #42 (6/10)
A HG card previously unseen by me, the Arnason high gloss addition now sets me at 183/487 or 37.5% complete. This means I am only 17 high gloss cards short of 200, a feat I thought was next to impossible when I started collecting the set. I still remember the first one I bought, Scott Young #414, set it all in motion and now here I am 182 HG cards later, crazy when I reflect on it 5 years on.
And #1..
#1. 2005-06 UD Victory Black Patrice Bergeron #14 (4/5)
As I have stated before, these black parallels are next-to-impossible to find. Luckily I had a good relationship with the seller and he offered it to me when he acquired it. Adding a victory black, of a future hall of famer no less, makes this among my top pickups of 2019. The Bergeron now gives me 59/300 or 19.6% of the set completed. So even though I didn't manage to pull a victory black parallel from my blaster box, I did manage to find one anyway.
Well if you have made it this far, thank you for the time and please do not hesitate to contact me with information on cards I need or those you are looking to sell. Looking forward to what December will bring, comments/feedback are welcome and have a great weekend everyone!
