Patrick Roy's Jersey Retirement

Another superb ceremony by the Habs in the books. I was a huge Roy fan growing up and dug out my old Street Warrior road hockey Roy goalie mask for the occasion tonight :D

The Habs are the best IMO when it comes to honoring their greats. It was neat to see Roy wear a Habs jersey with the Stanley Cup Centennial patch on it. In fact, the jersey he wore looks virtually identical to mine!

Awesome ceremony. Not overly emotional for me, just awesome. Very cool to see it finally happen and to have Patrick back in the family. Kudos to RDS for putting on the whole thing LIVE...major thumbs-down to CBC for the abbreviated, tape-delayed version.

I don't see how you can hate on them for that, not everyone can understand French.

I can just imagine how much that'd suck if it's your all-time favorite player but you can't understand a word of what's being said.

We might as well make this a GDT too.

That was a pretty good first period. Some good scoring chances and great saves by both teams. Lucic (THAT WUSS! ;) ) doesn't want to fight Laraque. So, Georges will have to go after Savard, I guess! :D

Lucic has nothing to prove to Laraque. He already took care of business with Komisarek, who he had history with. What does Laraque have to do prove with Lucic at this point??

I don't understand why Canadiens fans get all crazy about certain players and boo them EVERY single time they have the puck....do they realize how stupid they sound? I can't think of another bunch of fans that do anything even remotely close to that to any player yet Chara, Lucic, Ryder all get an ear full for what, being good players and doing what they are supposed to do?

Sorry for the rant but you just don't hear all this moaning and groaning from other fans as much as it is magnified with Montreal fans.

Laraque basically has nothing to prove to him. Georges is just doing his job trying to get Lucic off his game and give the Habs more momentum. As for this whining you're talking about, yes there are plenty of Habs fans that go way overboard. Go to the Habs forums and you'll see what I mean. But I'm not even close to being one of them.

Oh I know:D I work with a lady who's husband is a huge Habs fan and he almost got into a fight at a game against the Hurricanes last year. Some guy said something like "a hurricane came through here and wiped out the Habs" and he went ballistic and tried to chase the guy down and beat him up! That is going over board! LOL

The Habs lost but still got a point. They played decent and Price was solid, but their best players weren't their best players most of the night.

LOL Do you realize how stupid you sound by saying that? The fans are doing exactly what they are supposed to, cheer and make lots of noise. Tonnes of players have said that the Bell Centre is one of the hardest places to play because of the fans. I'll take that over a bunch of zombies in the seats ANY day.

EDIT: Also I'd like to add that is one difference I instantly notice when I watch other teams. The crowd has barely any effect over the game, they are so quiet you'd think it was a library on ice.
