Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone has purchased anything before off of gamewornauctions.net ? There is something on there that I am interested in and before bidding I would like to hear if anyone here has had an experience with this website.

Any info is much appreciated.

Cheers
Connie

I have heard of them, but never done business with them (yet). VegasPuck might be someone to PM about them, since he is one of the bigger game worn collectors I am aware of on here. They certainly have some neat pieces, although I have to say I am shocked at how high some of the prices go. Not because they aren't worthy of the money, but because I wouldn't expect the site to get sufficient traffic to have prices driven that high.

Those guys are a bit shady. They have been known to let sellers bid on their own items. I would be very careful bidding on anything they have to offer.

Ok, here we go:

1. They allow sellers to bid on their own auctions. AKA if a Seller feels the item is going for too cheap he is allowed to bid it up.

2. There's a couple people who have sold fakes through the auction in the past. A couple of those Gretzky autographed photo's I'd bet good money are ghost-signed, hence no bids.

3. A couple auctions ago every auction got bid up to the winners maximum bid on the last day. Not saying that it wasn't on the up and up, but...

Like all auctions, buyer beware. A lot of the Meigray-documented stuff on the site is good, as is most of the photomatched stuff, but doing homework never helps. Just remember:

1. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
2. If you have questions, ask around (though gameworn.net might not be the place to do it - posts and members mysteriously "disappear" from time to time.

What is confusing me about the site is that there is an item that i am watching...it currently has a bid. Well when I drop open the box to make a second bid there are amounts already listed in increments...can i not just put in a proxy amount of my chosing? It appears that all bids are incremental and of the site's descretion of how much that increment is.
