Recent Pickups I've Shielded

Hello all,

Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays with family as am I. Figured I'd put together one last show and tell for 2018 wrapping up my final pickups of the year.

I thought I'd take a trip down to a local card shop, a place I haven't visited in some time due to my busy schedule and ebay. There was one 05-06 Fleer Ultra box left on the shelf and I thought I'd take a stab at it, I hadn't opened a box of any sort in years. Well it yielded next to nothing haha, but it was fun opening packs again from my childhood, fleer ultra was always my favourite.

Now before I show my top 3, there were three vintage pickups that I somehow forgot to include in my last show and tell thread. In case you missed it, I displayed about 16-months worth of mail which can be seen here: http://www.hobbyinsider.net/forum/showthread.php?t=428419

A pair of 1912 C57 cards of Gordon Roberts and James Gardiner. These two are now my oldest cards and are in pretty decent shape. The fact that these pre-date even the First World War fascinates me.

The next card isn't a hockey card but it is still quite significant. It is a 1939 Churchman's Cigarette card of Jesse Owens, the man who won gold for the USA at the 1936 Olympics in Germany prior to the WW2. As a history buff of sorts, this was a great add to my collection.

#3 2005-06 The Cup Scripted Swatches SSP Jonathan Cheechoo /10

This former 50 goal scorer might not get much hobby interest these days. But for me all that means is that cards of interest, even super short prints, become more attainable.

#2 2005-06 UD Young Guns RC Duncan Keith #230 BGS 10

I've had this card on my radar for a while now but the asking price was just too high for me. It eventually went to auction and I won it at a price which was comfortable for me. This now brings me to 21 BGS 10 Young Guns from the 05-06 upper deck set.

2005-06 Ultimate Rookies Shield Corey Perry 1/1

I think the scan pretty much speaks for itself. I actually missed out on this card a few years ago so I was pretty excited to get a second chance at it. It also pairs pretty well with my Rareified Rookies Auto 1/1 of Perry from the SP Authentic product.

Wow love the Corey Perry! That card is a beauty!!

I remember all that buzz around Cheechoo that lasted about a year or so. I still remember that commercial with him sitting on his surf board in the water. Can't remember what the commercial was about lol

One last card, I forgot to check the mail yesterday and found this today. The only multicolored copy of Daniel Sedin I've seen. It goes very nicely with the only mutlicolored Hendrik Sedin I've seen as well.

Sweet stuff! I always love seeing your pickups; 05-06 was an amazing year for the hobby and it is so fun seeing someone put together an incredible collection of those cards. Here's to 2019 being another successful year for your PC!
