Retail jerseys passed off as game worn (London Knights)

Just think of how many people have "game worn" Patrick Kane London Knight jerseys framed on the wall or in the closet. I played around in the Blackhawks gamer market for a few years and know of 6 supposed gamers in collections, and was offered 4 or 5 others not included in those 6. I guess he wore a different jersey every night. :snapout:

The Guelph Storm supposedly had Drew Doughty wear jerseys almost every game when he was in junior. They kept a whole whack of them for charity auctions and promotions and whatnot. They were seeding them out for years after he was gone. It's not uncommon for star players to wear a lot of jerseys in junior. What the Knights are doing though... Not cool. That compromises Marner jerseys, Tavares jerseys, Kane jerseys, Kadri jerseys, Domi jerseys, etc.

I thought I remeber a couple years ago that a Pat Kane Knights jersey was used in ITG cards that was proven to be only practice worn or practice issued. Can someone on here confirm that?

For any OHL club to be involved in this type of nonsense, hard to believe it's the London Knights. You'd think it would be some small market team with limited attendance and desperate to generate revenue. Makes me hate them even more. ;)

With regard to the original post, the Maata jersey was prepared for him, but he unexpectedly made the Penguins so he never wore it. The jersey should have been sold as game issued, not game worn. However, the buyer probably should have been aware that Maata didn't play for the Knights that season since he worked for the team.
As for Sefton, he was traded during training camp, so again a jersey was prepared for him but never used.
I've been told that the Tierney is actually game used but didn't have a lot of wear because it's the black alternate and only used in 6 games that season. For whatever reason, the Knights attached the Memorial Cup patch to all of the jerseys, even if they won't be used during the tournament.

The Quebec Remparts had Mikhail Grigorenko wear a jersey for only one game and then sent it off to ITG as a game-used. It probably happens more than we think with star players.

It's no secret the majority of gamers card companies get from Meigray are one-game jerseys also. That's completely fine, game worn is game worn even if it's only once.

In some ways, that would almost be better as the card company could say something like:

John Smith wore this jersey on Oct. 8, 2017 in a game Vs the Edmonton Oilers. Although John did score a goal, his team ended up losing the contest 5-2 to the mighty Oilers.

I, personally would prefer this. No guess work about where it came from or anything like that. Just my opinion.

Fully agree. Panini actually did that for a GU set in football's version of Limited
