The San Jose Sharks signed forward Claude Lemieux to a two-way contract on Monday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

The 43-year-old, who has not played in the NHL since the 2002-03 season, has been attempting a comeback and has played for San Jose's American Hockey League affiliate in Worcester for the past month, notching two goals and four assist in 14 games.

The new contract allows San Jose to bring him up to the NHL as long as he is not claimed by noon on Tuesday by another team under the waiver rules.

Im a Flyers fan, I hate him, seriously with a passion. I HATE him. I hope he doesnt make I back. Hate to be that way about it, but I just cant help but say the way I feel, lol.

Love Claude, him and Mike Ricci were my favorite AV's players when I was growing up. Actually me Claude a couple times around Parker, as he used to have a house near us. Wish him the best of luck, I for one will be checking out many more sharks games if he is in the lineup.

I think I'd love to have him on the Sharks, he'd provide a lot of veteran leadership and some Stanley Cup experience, which was definately needed on this team before Blake, Boyle and Lukowich arrived. I though, will have a hard time putting aside that hit on Draper in the playoffs awhile back....

Watched him last night with Worchester played well got an assist. Must admit though he looks so much slower than the young guys that were out there. He still plays tough. Was able to get 3 auto's after the game.. Hope he makes it up at some point would be a great story

Is Lemieux really going to help the best team in the League? I scratch my head at this signing, are they looking to add someone who won to their dressing room? I really don't see the benefit in signing him.

On another note he was pretty darn funny on Joes vs Pros.

Good on him to come this far at his age.I never liked him either but he has my respect for going against the odds. The last person I remember trying to make a comeback that old was Rick Vaive.

Hope Lemieux makes it

I don't see him actually making the Sharks lineup unless they have some serious injury issues. If he does though, he will add some much needed grit and playoff experience.

It'll be just like old times...

Sharks suck in the playoffs, Lemieux was money right? Maybe some veteran leadership could help out.

Last season when the Wings brought McCarty back, I was thinking the same thing. Wings went on to win the Cup(not saying McCarty had a huge role but none the less)
