Senate Hall of Shame Hockey Cards from the NDP

I am willing to bet that those cards prolly cost the canadian tax payers a few hundred thousand dollars. Its why I hate politics. Crooks calling out other crooks for spending tax payers money before they had the chance.
 
Just how exactly are being these classed as hockey cards? Wouldn't they fall under the non-sports category?

Anyways, I'm holding out for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's, crack smoking, Rookie Evolution Video card to surface. If anyone pulls it shoot me a PM, after you come out of your drunken stuper, of course! :beer:

What are the odds on getting the "Do you know who I am?" Mulcair insert? Anyone know?
 
Cool idea, and a good way to get addresses for a mailing list. I ordered mine regardless of that.
I like that no matter what your politics are, most people don't like politicians.

I'm probably on all their lists anyways as one of my best friends is an NDP MP, so a free 99 card set will be fun, and I hate to admit probably a bit educational.

The bill was most likely taken care of by the NDP itself, which has nothing to do with Canadians. :devil: Oh SNAP. lol.
 
This is probably very correct. I would suspect that the quality of the cards isn't nearly as nice as, say, Panini's Score (I picked something low-end here on purpose). Probably very cheap to make. Photos are all public domain (so they cost nothing) and any interim / volunteer / party member who is board - could write the info (so long as they have a decent sense of humor).


Anyway, I would imagine you're correct. The costs are coming out of NDP party coffers, not the tax payers (granted, all donations to the NDP - or any party - are tax deductible, and the mailing costs may be picked up as part of the dirt cheap (and often free) mail subsidy that political parties get).

For the record - I think it's a pretty funny idea, and will give the NDP a bit of credit for doing something origional to raise awareness for a cause they believe in. I just wish that they wern't so dishonest about the whole Senate thing. Want it scraped? Okay, fine..... I don't want to debate the merits of status quo / reform / abolishing - but to talk like an NDP government could swoop in and scrap it is a lie. Nothing meaningful can be changed in the Senate (abolishment, term limits, elections, whatever) without a major change to the Canadian Constitution. For anyone that doesn't realize what a rabbit hole the goverment would be going down to do this..... google 'Meech Lake' :)
 
Don't take this too seriously, folks. They were used as a prop at a convention and probably are low quality (as they should be!). As for calling them hockey cards when they have nothing to do with hockey, most people have no clue what a non-sports card is but might be able to relate to what the idea of a hockey card is even if they haven't seen one in ages.

Funny little prop by the NDP. I dig it. Now it'll be interesting to see how rare these are and if they actually sell for a few bucks. Maybe some politicos will get into trading cards instead of jibes. :P

So Frank, where would you think autograph seekers/hounds would get these things signed IP, because I really don't want to stand outside a crackhouse at midnight to get someone like Rob Ford's signature! :laugh:
