Upstanding Member,
I had some idiot kill my ratings by buying around ten items and leaving a 1 for S & H in the subs.... Got the same message as Frank despite my 21000+ feedback.
My father-in-law just went to open an Ebay account and paypal account. He phoned me immediately afterwards and told me that Paypal states that they will withhold funds until he has met all three criteria; 25 sales (something stupid like that), 21 days withholding funds and $250 in sales....I was shocked. He just wanted to sell a few records.....He was turned completely off by this and I think he just gave up...WTF is with that??? Thats a complete joke...I think paypal is going to put themselves out of business with that B.S. Anyone else hear of this???
It takes years for 25 sales....and I asked to clarify whether it was all or whichever was first and re-iterated that he had to meet ALL 3.
honestly...if i bought 10 cards from someone who charged $3 shipping plus 50 cents for each additional card, that ends up being $7.50 - if the cards show up and the seller paid $2.50, i would have a huge problem with that, and definitely leave a 1 for shipping. It is not SHIPPING-bay...you are selling product, not shipping. Many times I have refunded money to buyers if I get home from the post office and did not pay what I charged. Something to think about...but this is probably why I have Power Seller and Top Rated Seller status. I also do not have funds held at paypal, but in 10 years I have had 2 legit non receipt claims and that is it. I also do not open up a bunch of silly claims because a listing said mint and the card arrives near mint - unfortunately since you are purchasing a card based off a scan...the description rests on the seller's perception of the card. I dunno...ebay has been good to me so far (KNOCK ON WOOD)...I play by the rules and get treated well.
That's a double-edged sword you're walking there. By charging $15 for shipping on $60 merchandise you're going to get people hitting your Shipping Charge DSR because they don't feel it was worth the value (never mind they shouldn't be buying in the first place if that's how they feel). Conversely, if you raise your insurance required amount you'll get more chargebacks. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Nuts to eBay.I do it reasonably though. If someone buys 10 items, I don't charge him $7.50. I cap it at $5. However, I do charge an extra $12 for insurance and require people to pay that fee if they are buying over $60 worth of items total. I've been burned too often on chargebacks

Ebay is like a hot girl/guy turning ugly over time. 2001-2008 she/he was hot. Last 3-4 years turned very ugly, very quickly. You still call here and there to catch up though.
And thats why selling there has been in a decline the last three-four years. She/he got ugly.
My selling on there is only when something first comes out, or is a hot hot card selling high. Other than that I leave that ugly girl/guy (girl) alone.
Carefully.PS. How do you "walk a double edged sword"? LOL
Strangely enough i get moore sales when charging a 2$ card with 4$ shipping then offering the same card for 5$ with free shipping?I'm seriously thinking of going to the free shipping and just upping the price on all my items by $3. If a buyer isn't smart enough to realize that a card at $5 with free shipping is cheaper than a guy charging $2 plus $4 shipping...then that's his loss.
