Simon Gagne traded back to Philly....

Pretty excited about both trade. Stoked that Gags gets to retire with the Orange and Black.

Maybe Andrew will sell that Gagne jersey now hey Geoff? haha

He will play much better in Philly for sure. My only questions is how in the heck did he lose his ice time to Penner? I mean seriously....how?

Gagne was a healthy scratch most of the year because of his lack of effort. Penner was a healthy scratch but he got the message and started using that big body of his. Gagne is no loss!

Penner has been very good the last 4-5 games and scored a goal against the Ducks. Plus, DL still has Richardson to play in the bottom 6 if Penner slacks off and multiple young players in Manchester (Toffoli, Pearson, Vey, Weal, Kozun) that could play a top-6 role if needed.

Gagne is not cut out to play Sutter style hockey - unless you're supremely talented like a Kopitar and aren't 6'4" 225 lbs, if you don't go in playing with maximum effort on every shift - your shelf life playing for Darryl Sutter is extremely short. Penner fits in - as far as size goes, but if he's not motivated, he'll be back sitting too

What art said. Gagne is not a sutter type of player so he wasnt playing. Think this is a good trade for both teams. Was a low risk high reward signing that didn't work out because he was hurt most of the time but didnt handcuff the team at all. He still got a cup and now gets to go back to where he played his best years and is loved. Definitely wouldn't be surprised to see him start scoring in Philly and hoping he does. Kings are getting bare in terms of prospects so a pick is good and should be a third if the flyers make the playoffs for future UFA. Wish him the best of luck in Philly

i don't know if i'd call the Kings "bare" as far as prospects go. Toffoli looks like a sure bet. Pearson already looks like he will be a quality NHL player and it's his first year out of junior. Vey looks to be headed for a top-6 role at some point and Kozun and Weal could find their way on an NHL roster at some point. And Andreoff looks to be another Nolan type.
not to mention Ellerby, Muzzin and Campbell that are on the NHL roster now but wouldn't be if not for injuries.

they may not have a lot of sure bet NHL stars, but who does that isn't already in the NHL?

the only problem is i don't see many of them ending up with the kings especially in their current system and style. toffoli looks like he is going to be awesome but some of the others don't fit the kings play and most likely will have to be moved before actually turning into nhl players.

its a good thing that the kings don't need all these kids to be filling in but they don't appear to be nearly as deep in terms of prospects and have been trading some picks away too. fine with me though for most of them, no way the kings make the playoffs let alone win the cup last year without jeff carter

im not complaining at all though just what i see as a kings fan. i honestly don't follow the monarchs as much as i used to though.

i think Toffoli, Pearson and Andreoff are definitely going to play for the Kings. Toffoli is a pure goal scorer so he will find his way on to this team, probably to start next year.
Pearson and Andreoff are both LW's and have some size so i think they will fit well.
i'm worried about size on both Weal and Kozun. they are both undersized which we know Sutter isn't in to.
i think Vey has a shot, but with the logjam at center, he may end up with the same fate as Loktionov unless he can learn to play wing like Lewis has.
