I think it's pretty well documented on HI how much I hate one specific player who wore a Canucks uniform. I despise him so much, I will not even utter his name (I think that's where JK Rowling got her idea with 'He who shall not be named').

Valeri Bure's brother, Candace Cameron's brother-in-law, Russian POS - just a few of the ways I refer to him as.

A couple of weeks ago, a Russian POS card came up on eBay. As much as I absolutely hate spending money on any card of his, I had to bite the bullet and go for one. I knew it would end up costing me a lot.

I asked a couple of friends to bid on it for me in order to save pain, suffering, retching, and that awful dirty feeling I get when I have to spend money on his stuff... But, they wouldn't bid on it for me, preferring to watch me suffer while they giggled and snickered. I wouldn't have expected anything less... that's what true friends do to true friends. :D

The only thing that kept me focussed was thinking 'The end justifies the mean, the end justifies the mean.' Found if I said that about 54 times, things were a bit better.

I won the auction, and ended up forking out over 185 CDN for the Russian POS card.

But, as I said, the end definitely justified the means, because here is the result:

The complete 1997/1998 Black Diamond Premium Cut horizontal set. For those of you who don't know, a few of the cards had incredibly long odds, especially the Gretzky, Roy. This was the first set that UD used the grouping seed method, even though they didn't 100% specify the groups. There were some cards within the groups that were even more SPd than cards in a longer odds seeding.

I am so darn happy to have this set finished. Even if it meant biting the bullet and spending so much money on a Russian POS card.

There you go!

Sorry you had to pay so much for a player you can't mention, but that is an awesome set. I have always liked the look of 97-98 Black Diamond. Congrats on sticking with it for so many years.

Damn.. IM impressed! good job Randy!
They look good scanned together!
even with your favorite Russian Player! :P
Now lets get the others complete! ;)

Great stuff Randy. I'll admit.....I got a slight chuckle. Glad to see you can put that set to bed.

Thanks for sharing.

Ah, 1997-98 Black Diamond, it's got a special place in my heart as the only set with RC's of the Sedins... really cool seeing that set all complete! So amongst all your projects how many Candace Cameron brother-in-laws do you have in your collection anyways?
