Summer UFAs... Where will they sign?

This should be a busy summer. Here is a list of just a handful of potential UFAs. Who do you want to see on your team?

Personally, I'd love to see Langkow and Campbell with the Sens. I wouldn't mind Morrison too...
 
You missed some of the best forwards:

- Ryan Malone
- Brian Rolston
- Michael Ryder
- Miroslav Satan


Overall though, it's a fairly weak year in terms of top heavy superstar talent. Theres really only Hossa. It is a solid year though for top 6 forward/2nd line type talent.
 
Since the Leafs are rebuilding (hopefully) I don't want them to dip to far into the free agent pool. Thats what put us in this trouble to being with.

I wouldn't mind grabbing a younger UFA like Ryder, Kelly, Williams or Malone. I wouldn't mind Liles but we have enough d-men that are being paid heavily. If the Leafs are interested in the UFA pool they have to go young. At least they can be there for a few years. Someone like Rolston, who is amazing, is 35 years old... he has to go to a contender.
 
i'm hoping Avery will return to NY. wouldn't mind seeing jagr, shanny, and straka re-sign as well. though i'm wondering how effective shanny and straka can still be. if jagr can play all year like he did in the playoffs, that'd be huge.

D: Brian Campbell, Redden

C: Well I think this will be added via trade around draft time. Spezza or Marleau

F: Hossa, Rolston--> just because he seems to always score agaist us...
 
As far as defensemen, I wouldn't mind seeing Norstrom or Liles sign with the Penguins.

I'm a bit guarded as to which forwards I'd want to see in Pens uniforms. If we can keep Ryan Malone - awesome! Malone's going to be a hard one to replace cheap, both in terms of production and size. Hossa's proven a great fit too, but getting Malkin signed until 2015 or later is a bit more important. Ryder would be a viable alternative, and would probably pair nicely with Crosby.

I think that they might go after one of Redden or Campbell but just not sure which one, and of course since they are UFA's they would also have to select the CBJ also... Hainsey is also a UFA, rumors are that hes willing to give a "hometown discount" but not really sure what that would be, if he only looking for a 3 year deal, he will probably stay but if hes looking for 6 or 7 years then i don't see him being resigned...

Its just hard to figure out what they will go after in UFA because it depends on what they get with trades... mostly with our #6 and #19 picks in the first round of the draft...and it also depends on which players might have to be added to those trades.


I don't see us going hard into the UFA waters for a Center as there aren't any Top ones available. Sundin is there but I figure that hes a Toronto or nowhere guy. Maybe Nash can talk him into coming to Columbus for a year...
 
Well I am waiting to see what happens with Foote. He thinks that he is worth 4 mill a year and was not willing to negotiate on that with the CBJ... he was offered 3.5 for 2 years.. I just don't see him getting anywhere near that money, I would not be surprised if he signed with Colorado for 2 mill a year... I do want him to sign there as that gives the CBJ their 4th rnd pick in next years draft.

I'm 100% positive agents start those to garner additional interest and talk of their clients.

I know this for a fact.

Of course there are some UFA's that the Leafs do in fact have an interest in but I'd wager a guess that the majority are agent driven.
 
Flames will sign Ryder and then ship Tanguay in a package to Florida for Jokinen.

They must have something in the works for a #1 center else they would not allow Langkow to become a free agent.
 
I expect Ryder to sign with the Bruins. Back with his old coach + he would be really good along side Marc Savard.

Wouldn't mind seeing Malone in a Leafs uniform but realistically I don't want to see any leaf additions until I see what they are doing with their current roster.

Come on CHRIS, we all know that the leafs are waiting to make a huge offer to Malkin and Staal haha. Hope they tank this year, get Tavares and sign Malkin. That would be greatttttttt!!!

Well, according to some reports ALexei Yashin wants back in the NHL.

Looks like we have our sens free agent signing!

*edit* or dare I say...... our LEAFS free agent signing? *fingers crossed*
 
I think the Hawks are happy with their defense right now, and I love the youth and talent they have on the blueline. They could use a couple more scoring forwards, I'm hoping they land at least one of Hossa, Malone, or Rolston. If they can lure two of them, I would be thrilled. Lord knows they have the cap space and money.

That scares me, knowing the Hawks, they will sign Yashin and Daigle to long term grossly overpaid contracts...........

I said it on Beckett, but it was so good, I have to say it here as well...

If ever there was a good reason to have another lockout, stopping Yashin from coming back to the NHL is it.
 
Malone is Pittsburgh born and raised. his Dad also played with the Pens, it's going to be real tough to get him to sign anywhere but Pittsburgh.
