Registered Trader,
So, another challenging year has passed with more hurdles to overcome, especially with the chaos in the hobby markets. With that said, I was able to add some nice items to our growing collection.
And so, without further ado, here are the top additions to our collection in 2021…
Rambo
I’ll start this show-and-tell with something that is not hockey-related, nor does it have anything to do with cards. When I was a young teenager, my parents gave me these 3 “Rambo” figures for Christmas.
Rambo Original 3 by Peter Lougheed, on Flickr
Almost immediately, this product was gone from the shelves of our local toy departments, and I never heard nor saw anything related to them for almost 15 years. Around the year 2000, with my first forays onto the new “eBay” market platform, I learned that there were many other “Rambo: The Force of Freedom” figures, vehicles, accessories, and an enemy base that came out the same year I got my three figures. I learned that the series lasted for only two years, with the figures in the second year very short-printed as the line was collapsing into oblivion. Over the last 20 years, I was able to acquire the entire collection, but I chose to acquire every component still in original packaging, which made it very difficult to put the set together.
Long story short, these were the last 2 figures we needed to complete our “Master” in-the-package set. Mission complete, John J.!! (“Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don't turn it off!”)

Non-hockey cards
I always keep an eye out for interesting non-hockey cards, especially the new Leaf Pearl cut signature cards that have hit the market in the last few years. Here are the best non-hockey cards I have acquired in 2021 (Sorry some of the scans are not clear - Thick cases).

Misc. hockey cards
I’ll start the “best of” hockey card presentation with this group of cards that fall into the “miscellaneous” category.

Artifacts
Over the last few years, I have become a fan of Artifacts autograph dual jersey/patch/stick cards. Here are the best for us in 2021.

Jagr
This guy is my age and he is still playing professional hockey! His card values have skyrocketed this year, but I was still able to add a few to our collection.

Scripted
Scripted swatches/sticks cards have been a favourite of mine for many years… here are a few beauties acquired in 2021.

Laces
Laces cards are very unique as they present memorabilia witch we usually overlook. With the ITG/President’s Choice/Upper Deck list of laces cards constantly expanding, I was happy to add these cards to our collection.

Stickhandles
Since these special and eye-catching cards first appeared on the scene, I have been trying to add as many as I can to our collection. Here are the new guys…

Vintage RCs and Cut signatures
I try to constantly learn more about the early legends of the game of hockey, and collecting old RCs and cut signatures is a constant goal for our collection. Here are our legendary cards of 2021.

It’s no secret that one of my all-time favourite players to collect is Jacques Plante. It has been a quiet year for the Plante collection, but we were able to add these two cool cards.

Vezina
At the beginning of 2021, like many of you we were able to open a box of President’s Choice Vezina Collection. Here is the remaining card we have from our box, along with another Vezina card we added later in the year.

Gretzky
2021 was a huge year for Gretzky Cards, especially for their prices! With that said, we were able to pick up a few Great One cards in the last 12 months.

PSA
Like many of you, I was tempted this year to send in some of my cards for PSA grading. After waiting for 6 months, here are the highlights of the cards we had graded by PSA in 2021.

Epic Signatures
I started this year-in-review with our completed Rambo figure collection. I will end this presentation with the cards we acquired in 2021 to complete one of my favourite hockey card sets ever made.

I hope that you all had a healthy and happy 2021, and I hope the hobby stabilizes itself so that card values can remain high while still allowing us to continue collecting the items we love.
Here’s to an even better 2022!
