Kyle Turris's contract stand-off with the Phoenix Coyotes is expected to come to an end, with the two sides agreeing to a two-year contract worth $2.8 million on Tuesday.

Turris will earn $1.2 million in the first season and $1.6 million in the second.

Good on the Coyotes for standing their ground. They said that they weren't going to move him without a contract in place. We'll just have to wait and see if he's traded now.

He wanted 2+ million per season, but I think the idea that if he didn't sign before December 1st, he wouldn't play probably made a big part in decision. Not just that, but the fact that Phoenix said they would rather sit him for the year than trade him unsigned.

This contact makes him a desirable commodity at that price, and allows Phoenix to start shopping him around on their terms.

He'll likely be gone by deadline day. Turris' main beef was the coach, and specifically playing time - he wanted more than the 9-12 minutes he was getting last year.
