Wild Have Already Offered Up Gaborik

Just out of curiosity, when he gets traded (or signs elsewhere) how many Gaborik collections go up in smoke? Or will they be continuing?

I'm wondering that as well. It seems many of the Mafia are Wild fans, not just Gabby fans. I'm thinking if one of the bigger collectors decides to stick with it, they may have a shot a completing the entire library of Gaborik cards.

So far in Minnesota the feeling is don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. The Wild offered him the best deal he is going to see, he (or at least his leach of an agent) aren't interested, and now he is hurt....again. This is Mikko's team now. it could have been Gabby's but he just can't get past the me first stuff. I am not going to imply that he is a cancer to the locker room because he isn't, be he isn't a leader.

As things stand I think there is still a decent chance that he resigns with the Wild as long as they don't withdraw the offer they made (which I think they should actually). I don't think the Wild are going to get what they feel is a fair deal for him, and the longer he stays in the press box the more his appeal deminishes to other teams.

Taking the economy into effect and the very real possibility that the salary cap will stay the same next year or maybe even go down. 8+ mill over 10 years is as good as he can expect to get.

Don't get me wrong. I am all for trading him now. The Wild seem to be ok without him so far.

I hope they deal him. When healthy, which is a big concern of Gabby's, he's top 5 in the league. But, he's always battling some sort of injury and I think that's a huge concern of the Wild if he isn't willing to re-sign for what they've offered.

I'd love to see them get max value for Gabby, but, I know it won't happen, due to him being a FA at the end of the year. I would like to see three players or two players and a high pick come back, but, again, being a FA at the end of this season limits what teams wanna pay for someone, even if he is Marion Gaborik.

Its obvious that, despite what he says, he wants out of Minnesota. He wants to play somewhere where he can play 100% offensive hockey, and Minnesota is not that place. I say send him to the Islanders. If he wants a riciculous contract, let Wang offer it to him.

You guys DO know where he's headed right? You can't see it? Gabby in the blue and white?

;)

The Panthers need another forward and have some cap room, maybe Gabby will heal faster in the sunshine state. It's almost certain he'll be moved but which team is willing to take the hit?

He is a great player when he healthy and fun to watch.

Maybe a Flip this Gaborik?

The top teams don't have the cap space to pick him up this early in the season.

so a team with plenty of cap space makes the trade now and then "flips" him at the trading deadline to a top team because then his cap hit will not be nearly as much...

Then he will be a UFA next year and who knows where he will end up.....

Well, I can't imagine a op team not having to give up some players for Gaborik. I don't thinkt he Wild would want a first round picks in the 25-30 range without some kind of talent coming in this season. Does Gaborik have a say in where he can and cannot be moved to? If not, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets moved to the likes of Florida or someone.

Considering the flurry of High End Gaboriks that the Mafia have listed over the last couple of days (Shields/Property Of....) I dare say it will be a few. Although I am not sure if that's a fallout of the trade rumors, or just the desire to not have to compete with the insane Slovak collectors like kodes32 (or whatever his name is) anymore.

You just made every Gabby collector on these boards glare angrily at their screen.

Point? He has durability issues.

03-04: 65GP
05-06: 65GP
06-07: 48GP
07-08: 77GP
08-09: 2 GP so far out of 4.

Last year was the first time in 5 years he'd played anything resembling a full schedule.

Another great talent with trouble staying healthy... see also Martin Havlat.
