I said 2 - under average. Maybe it was just me, but I never really got into it. Could have been because it was all retired players

I voted "Above Average", I loved how the cards captured great moments in hockey history. Also, the framed cards are cool and let's not forget about the on-card autos!

A great looking product and some great names in it. However, resale value has been terrible. Unless you luck out and hit a really big pull you're going to be losing a lot of money. Definitely a great product for those looking to pick up singles!

I voted 4. This is the first set I can remember for hockey, outside the standards like OPC and UD, that really has set builders chasing it.

I think there are a lot of other moments that are missing, hence I didn't give it a full-5 rating.

I gave the set a four.

Likes:
- I like retired player sets (although this set could have gone with a mix of old and new), I like artwork cards, I like parallels, and I like hard-signed autos. For the most part, not too much could have gone wrong for me.
- The set covered most my player collections for retired players.
- My four year-old daughter loved the Lady Byng card (she's currently in the anything that remotely looks like a princess phase).
- A few fresh-faces in the player selection, but probably could have found a few more. Upper Deck must have had at least one more player in mind, as the set ended on 87 cards.

Dislikes:
- I'm not fond of the off the off the ice trophy cards (of course, it could have been the first box shock of being greeted by a 5"x7" card of Rod Langway in a tux).
- The brown border parallels, both in color, and in quality control. The batch I had (~20 cards, from at least two different cases) should have never packed out.
- The standard back of the jersey card disclaimer. I know, a topic beaten to death, but I'd like a little more detail when it comes to a pull like Wayne Gretzky.

Quirky artwork question:
- What's the deal with the levitating stick on the Jari Kurri Avalanche card?

I loved the inaugural issue of the baseball!

And really loved the artwork!

I looked forward to the issue of hockey, football and baseball 2.

Unfortunately I do not feel the artwork on the hockey or the baseball 2 is "up to par" with the artwork chosen for series 1.

My big issue with the set was that there are 4 or 5 cards of some players, and none of others, despite being issued in the insert/jersey sets. For example, Gretzky has 4 cards, **** Duff has 0. However, there's a Brushstrokes for Duff. I think that we could have done okay with 3 Gretz cards, and 1 Duff. Just for fairness' sake.

Also is there some reason to have two jersey cards of the same player? Adam Oates in a Blues and Adam Oates in a Bruins? That's just ridiculous, really.

I did however rate it a 5, as I do love the set, especially the autos of HOFs and lots of older players, on card.

If anyone has any blue borders they'd like to move...I'd like to take them!

Any product without rookie cards = failure of a product. Design is great but these auto/inserts should of been inserted in another product, OPC?? . Upper deck Chronology Basketball used the Brushstrokes design as auto inserts.

At $125 a box, most boxes yield a monster loss. I rate this product under average

I should note that my B&M is selling me these at 5$/pk which is unreal I gather from the few other places in town selling them. That's probably helped my appreciation.

Maybe they are retail?? I got retail packs for 4$ locally.

Out of 2 retail packs, I pulled a Denis Savard jsy card in Habs uni, which is a keeper.

I'm really impressed by the base cards. The one with an headshot of Beliveau holding the Stanley Cup is a beauty.

I really want to build the base set. I'm reflecting about these 3 options to do so:
-buying a sealed hobby box
-buying a sealed retail box
-trading for the 80 singles I still need

So far, I give it a 4. I'm a fan of retired players sets, but this one is not as strong as Franchises Canadian. Memorabilia is weaker, cards being with no known print run.
