I appologize if this thread has already been done before.

What is your dream team, starting lineup. NHL past and present. Any era since the birth of the NHL. You can pick international players like Tretiak too.

Here's mine:

C - Wayne Gretzky
LW- Jean Beliveau
RW- Maurice Richard
D- Bobby Orr
D- Paul Coffey
G- Terry Sawchuk

Forwards
Wayne Gretzky
Jean Beliveau
Gilbert Perreault

Defence
Tim Horton
Doug Harvey

Goal
Jacques Plante

All - greats (MY)

Forwards - Gretzky, Howe and Richard
DMen - Orr and Harvey
Goalie - Plante (only 'cause I'm from that era).
Sawchuk was my alternate

If you would have asked me this 20 years ago...

C - Joe Sakic
LW- Keith Tkachuk
RW- Peter Bondra
D- Bobby Orr
D- Al MacInnis
G- Felix Potvin

** after seeing a later post, Kariya (pre Suter cross check) would be on my list too

Too many combos, can't decide, so 1 and 1A lines. Pure passer with pure goal scorers. Power, size and finesse on 1A. So hard for goalie. Hasek, Tretiak, Dryden, Tony O, Hall, Plante, Sawchuk has to be all in the mix.

C: Gretzky
RW: Bossy
LW: Bobby Hull
D: Orr, Harvey
G: Brodeur

C: Lemieux
RW: Jagr
LW: Shanahan
D: Lidstrom, L. Robinson
G: Roy

Good thing dream team doesn't mean "best team", but here is mine:

C: Rod Brind'Amour
LW: Luc Robitaille
RW: Brett Hull
D: Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque
G: Arturs Irbe, with Levente Szuper in backup

That team could pack a punch with goals and wouldn't matter if Irbe was in net or not.

Paul Kariya (Ducks Years)
Matt Stajan (Early Toronto Years)
Marian Gaborik (first couple of Wild seasons)

Alex Pietrangelo (OHL and Team Canada WJC)
Marc Staal (Sudbury Woves)

Curtis Joseph (2000's Toronto)

C
Gretzky

LW
Bobby Hull

RW
Mike Bossy
(This is really close in my mind and it came down to Bossy and Brett Hull. )

D
Orr
Harvey

G
George Hainsworth

Gretzky, Richard, Bossy
Orr, Potvin
Luongo

:D

just kidding with the goaltender...

I'd have to go with Brodeur, but damn, it's really close with Plante or Sawxhuk.

Pulling the goalie as not much skating going on once the puck drops :D -

Forwards -
Bob Probert
Joey Kocur
Dave Brown
Stu Grimson

Defense -
Dave Manson
Bryan Marchment

Forwards:
Mark Pavelich
Buzz Schneider
John Harrington

Defense:
Dave Christian
Jack O'Callahan

Goal:
Jim Craig

I really think these kids could end up doing something special at some point.
