GDT: Washington @ Tampa Bay - 19th of March

For his sake, Steven Stamkos better not cross paths with me tomorrow. Because his face is gonna be separated.

Hmm I saw it and once would have been more then enough, but if there's one single player in the NHL that would been allowed to do so it's Ovie. his stick really is on fire

Okay, I just saw the celebration.

I'm not surprised. He's a hot dog, plain and simple. Some people like it. I personally don't.

Interesting though how this guy is totally bulletproof. Anyone else would be chastised for such behavior, but not AO. I'm sure the media people (aside from maybe Don Cherry) will eat it up. You could see his teammates wanted no part of it, but what can they do? He's Mr. Hockey right now, and he could take a dump on the ice and people would applaud and say how well he did it.

Just like in society, the more outrageous and selfish you act, the more famous you get, I guess. That's sad to me.

This takes nothing away from his talent, which is second to none. But mark my words, somehow or another this stuff will catch up to him.

During the Leafs intermission they showed it, and Nick Kyprios and Doug Maclean were disgusted by it. millard asked to see the footage again and they basically questioned the point of it. They commented on it being too much, and how someone should have stood up for the goalie, and the team at the site of being embaressed like that.

Im starting to think more then a few people might be getting fed up with it.

5-2 win for the Caps..woot.Another check in the win column along with the 50th goal.
This game will be talked about tomorrow too lol.Nice game though.Along with 2 goals for green :)

I just watched Craig Button on NHL on the Fly kiss Ovy's hind end and tell him how wonderful and fun it was, and how Ovy should not listen to guys like Don Cherry, who will probably criticize it. That's what I was going on.

We'll see how it plays out.

That was pretty distasteful. He must think he's bigger than the game itself.

I presume you feel the same about what Tiger Williams used to do, always riding his stick, or Theo Fleury sliding all over the ice after a goal.

I say let Ovy be Ovy, enough of this old mentality of this isn't good for hockey. He has a personality... heaven forbid why would the NHL want anyone to be over the top. He shows his passion for the game differently than other players. Congrats to A.O. and keep it coming.

Yeah i was just trying to shed a glimmer of hope that somepeople would smarten up...even if it was Kyprios.

I am a HUGE supporter of Ovy's celebrations, the glass jumping and all that. But honestly, he just looked moronic doing this. Until someone said it was a "stick on fire" gag, I wasn't even sure what he was doing. And it has nothing to do with it coming against Tampa.

Would you all seriously quit with the celebration thing for real?

They interviewed him in between periods, and he said he wanted to do something special for his 50th goal. Who wouldn't want to celebrate a goal like that? It's a goal celebration! What's next? Take the goal horns out of the game because they are offensive to the goalies? Just give it up. He's Ovie. Okay? Nobody's gonna do a thing about it and the more everyone *****es about it, the more he's gonna do it. Sheeeshh

Without the blatant homerism, you have a point in that no one will do anything about it.

Man, I'm coming down on AO in the same day that I gave Crosby props for this whole Savard/visor incident. The ground doesn't feel any colder...

Thats the great thing about opinions, everyone is allowed to have them. They might not necessarily be right or the same as yours, but everyone is entitled to feel how they do about his exhuberant celebrations. Do i care if he jumps into the glass when he scores, or pumps his fist 49 times? Hell no. Stuff like what he did today? I am not a fan of, and personally do not see the need for.

I'll have to agree with Dave.

This is becoming a potential wreck, which I don't want to experience. :o
