Just in from LeBrun:

Leafs get Versteeg and the rights to winger Bill Sweatt in exchange for forwards Viktor Stalberg, Chris DiDomenico and Philippe Paradis

Good to see Chicago not have to trade him away for nothing in return. Stalberg should fit well the Hawks and Versteeg should add some nice secondary scoring for them. Seems to me that both teams got a pretty even deal.

Leaf's win this trade for now and as a Leaf's fan I didn't see much from Stalberg last year, but he has the speed and shot to be a solid top 6 guy in the future. Versteeg is one right now and with Burke's goal to make this team as good as he can as soon as he can, he did a GREAT job. Totally off the radar too. Anyone know Versteeg's contract situation?

win/win I think. Chicago had to clear up cap room for Niemi and to keep the key cogs. Stalberg, will not perform as well as Versteeg(at this point) but is a serviceable NHLer and cheap on the cap hit. The Leafs get a player who can fit into their top 6 now, and still have Kaberle left to use as trade bait to get another, if Burke goes in that direction.

Sucks for my Stalberg collection though, considering I had just about every rookie, a Black Letterman incoming and just polished off a trade for his SPA Limited. I guess that is why I only collect players in their Leafs uni, to avoid this :)

As a collector, I wonder how much those limited copies of Versteegs rookie will go up (I think he only has about 300 true rookie cards). Glad I got my copy.

Looks good for both teams. Leafs get a good top 6 forward and a great young prospect in Bill Sweatt, Hawks dump some salary and get a good young player with a lot of potential and a couple solid prospects.

Bonus is the Leafs get a quality player that is signed for 2 years. They still have some cap space left and Kaberle to trade. The Leafs are coming together nicely.

Damn I forgot about trading Kabby lol. Here I am thinking about free agents and adding some scoring punch and totally forgot lol.Should be an even more entertaining beginning of summer.:)Go Burke:)

Best chance for a Kabby trade will be in the next couple of days after the big name free agent Ds are signed and the teams that missed out need to fill the holes.
