City Plans Victory Parade For Stanley Cup ChampsPITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―

Officials with the city of Pittsburgh have announced plans to honor the Penguins and their Stanley Cup victory.

The "City of Champions" parade will be held at noon on Monday, June 15th.

City officials say the parade will take the same route as the Steelers Super Bowl parade.

The festivities will start at the intersection of Grant Street and Seventh Avenue, loop to the Boulevard of the Allies and end on Stanwix Street.

Crews will set up a stage there for a celebration.

Officials also say barricades will be set up for safety purposes and they are encouraging fans to take public transportation.

I've been lucky enough to be around to witness Six Super Bowl celebrations, One World Series Celebration, and Three Stanley Cup celebrations.

Who's comin' with me??? :dance::dance::dance:

If lived in the eastern US I'd sure try to get there. Congratz to Pens! Especially to Malkin and to Mario, anyway, next year the Cup will be back in Canada! :p

City of Champions? I didn't know the Pens played in Boston ;)

Kidding kidding. I hope there's a real good turnout :D

Who wants to bet Marian Hossa will be there? He so desparately wants to be part of a champion, this may be his only shot at a celebration!! :-)

Hossa lives 5 minutes from my house..i will try to fit him in a flat rate box priority mail ..$10.35 and perhaps it will be there in time. im sure he will be moving out real soon

I'll watch from the 39th floor of the USS Tower on Grant Street on Monday. I hope they show Sidney Crosby with the Stanley Cup hundreds and thousands of times. And for all you haters (especially Detroit and East Coasters), it will be extra fun thinking of you.

whats not to love!!

Last year was the start of the "dynasty" , this years win cements it. Here's hoping by the time I retire in 15+ years that they have 10 cups! (it cant hurt the value of our collective collections of Malkin, Crosby, Fleury, Staal etc etc can it)

Congrats to the pens and I hope beyond hope that soon my beloved Blues will be their opponent in a Cup Final!

Sooner than later would be nice!

yeah- when you win next year and get to 1.2 million at your parade then we'll talk about you being Hockeytown ;)

congrats on a great series!

Did Detroit have 1.2 million people at the parade last year??!!??

That's like twice the population of my province...

let's wait for the numbers to come out. The parade is still going on isn't it?

I heard Detroit was 1 mil last year but I find that hard to believe.

The Pittsburgh Tribune is saying this parade is alrady bigger than the Steelers' parade which had 350K people.

All 4 of the parades and gatherings at Hart Plaza were over 1 million strong.
Don't forget the greater Detroit area is about 5.5 Million - start adding in people like me that drove from 150 miles away - and add in Windsor, London and so on and the actual area of about 200 mile radius is probably close to 10 Million at least.

And please no talk of a dynasty - that is utter foolishness.
Two years does not even qualify as a run in the world of sports.
When you compete for championships for the next 5 years and win multiples - then come back and bring it up!!!!

Not to mention when you have to re-up Geno and Crosby - that could get ugly.... fast!!!

Congrats to the Pens.

You could argue that it's the start of a dynasty, but I think the Pens need at least another 2 Cups in the next 5-6 years and 2-3 very deep playoff runs before they're a dynasty.
