Just how bad is the mail right now?

It seems like it depends on what day you mailed it. Best I can tell: If your mail got to a sorting facility, and was stuck due to a shut down or delay - it's going to be stuck for weeks. If it got there on a day when they're up & running, I think you're okay. (i.e. I don't think the sorting facilities are following "first in, first out").

Most (in Canada, and coming from USA) mail that I've been expecting over the last couple of months came with little-to-no delay... but the ones that were delayed were delayed a lot.

IF mailed USPS Expedited Parcel with tracking number, then you can track that number on Canada Post website.
Considering the long weekend and usually one week with CBSA, the tracking would appear on CP website.
THEN from the port of entry, it might take 7 - 10 days even if labelled Xpresspost mail.
I had SIX cards go that route with exception of ONE which was in Chicago for over 2 weeks!
Also ONE from Slovakia that took over SIX weeks.
GLAD to share my experiences and do practise patience.

USA to Winnipeg, not so great. At least, not for line tracking updating.

No further updates for 15 days - then blammo, the item is in Winnipeg. I was about to ask my seller to look into it.

Speaking about all my online experiences in general, I've had 4-5 vendors contact me to let me know my items are ready to ship, but that they have been having very intermittent pick-up from USPS or other delivery companies (UPS/ FedEx, etc.).
I had one recent order where I ordered once before, and it came in 10 days. Liked the product so I ordered again. Got a message about shipping delays, and package came almost 3 weeks later.

As far as US/Canada packages, there hasn't been any serious difference in wait time, but I have seen several items delivered that were "inspected" at the border. I mean, it never happened before, then I had 3 deliveries in a row that had been opened and resealed with "INSPECTED BY...." tape.

From my experience, anything I have shipped to the US has been taking 5-6 weeks. In Canada seems to be pretty normal, usually around 1 week. Unfortunately, a lot of people in the US don't realize it is taking that long for stuff from Canada and are getting demanding after their card hasn't arrived in 2 weeks.

I have two packages with Canada Post tracking numbers and neither has shown any update in over a week. I have no idea if they're just not being scanned or if they're even moving at all.

Could be both, honestly.

I've had packages come in recently where it was scanned until delivery, while the others just stopped being updated at all, yet still made it to me fine.

Delivery times delays

While this pandemic is happening and all I know there are delay's at postal depots and such and that carriers are being over worked with extra mail to deliver and don't question it, but lately I have been getting a lot of Ebay buys in and notice one thing.
On Ebay I get the notice my item has been shipped. When I look at the date stamp on the envelope I see there is as much as a 2 week difference.
Anyone else noticing it?
Not a postal worker of any kind but is this normal? Where say seller updates invoice and it shows it's shipped on April 8th, date stamp on envelope is April 21st and it arrives May 25th.

Many of mine are not even stamped so I assume they just tossed them in the outgoing mailbox themselves.

Similar delay times in shopping. I just received a package from AZ USA that was shipped after a packaged from Hamilton ON which I have still not received.

As has been pointed out. Mail is all over the map right now.

In your specific example it would seem the seller is marking as shipped to appear they are complying with their eBay shipping standards but not getting to the PO until much later.

I hate to laugh Peter... but I absolutely know where you are coming from!!

over 3 weeks for me to get an item from Seattle to Ohio. And it was a 1/1 pickup for a friend, so I was a bit worried! It finally arrived today in fine shape. Just took a while to make it here safely, which is all I can ask.

That would be great lol ... I'm getting tired of paying $12.50 - $15.00 USD to ship $5.00 cards from the US to Canada that I "need" for my collection.

I've found that if your item goes through the International facility in Jamaica, NY, it's going to take a while. I assume with the outbreaks in NYC they've probably had issues with staffing etc.

I've had cards take 2-3 weeks to get form the GTA to the Niagara Region. I will say though that my mom is a CP carrier (one of the good ones haha), and they are absolutely slammed right now. Volume of packages is equal to or greater to Christmas time volume each day. Lots of staff working overtime on weekends to move parcels. Toss in a positive COVID test here and there and the facilities get shut down and cleaned, that creates delays too.
