NHL Draft Lottery Simulator

Leafs fans should thank Canucks President Trevor Linden. He was carrying a Pat Quinn hockey card with him, for luck, and called it a Rookie card too. Sadly, it showed Pat as a member of the Canucks, and as we all know, Quinn's RC shows him as a member of the Leafs. I'm amazed the 'nucks didn't drop to sixth.

Dave.

Really like what the Leafs have done. I expect JVR to be moved soon, possibly at the draft. I'm guessing he'll fetch a 1st from a team that is looking for a playoff push.

Kadri's NMC doesn't kick in until 2 years from now, so if Leafs draft Matthews and Marner rips up the AHL, then they're pretty solid down the middle, and Kadri's friendly cap hit and long term contract can easily be moved (or exposed for expansion).

Bozak and Lupul have NMC's, so they'll probably be asked to be waived in the last year of their contracts at the trade deadline.

Just going to throw more stuff at Leaf Nation. Edm offers RNH for 1st pick. Yes? No? Close? Throw in Yaks??

Also, Jets and CBJ are going to look solid with 3 decent lines.

Ehlers - Schiefele - Wheeler
Laine - Little - Stafford
Lowry - Burmi - Perreault

Saad - Jenner - Puljujarvi
Foligno - Wennberg - Hartnell
Calvert - Dubi - Atkinson

Marner won't be able to play in the AHL for another year. Next year it's either Leafs or London for him. I don't know if another year of junior will really benefit him at this point. He's absolutely tearing up the O playoffs right now

Will be interesting to see where Kyle Connor slots in next year too. Also, totally unrelated... Hopefully Burmi is long gone before next season....

This is where the CHL rule sort of sucks. Marner would benefit a lot from a year in the A. But rushing him to the pros before he's physically ready, could hurt his development. Plus it burns a year off his ELC.

Ahh yes, Connor. Awesome pick by the Jets. The Jets have drafted very well recently. Looking forward to their emergence as a top team in the future. Burmi has 1 more year before he's a RFA. Jets could walk away from him, or sign him cheap.

There's still Dano, Armia and Petan too. Roslovic and Harkins are possibilities too. Jets also have Hawk's 1st this year too.

Also factor in Brendan Lemieux. He will make a serious push for a roster spot next season. He really stood out in his short AHL stint at the end of this season with the Moose. He was also the Jets best player last year in Penticton in the pre season young stars tournament.

Harkins looks like he will be another great pick for the Jets, but he will almost certainly be back with Prince George next season being that he's a 97.

I love how the leafs getting the first overal is getting people talking about the leafs in a positive way. Last night I heard my son and all his buddies talking about he Leafs and how they can't wait to watch them when they get Marnier and Mathews. First time I have heard the younger kids excited and talking about the leafs in a positive way. As a life long leaf fan since the 70's it makes me feel positive. The team should have a chance at having a super maybe even a superstar. Should bring lots of new fans to the leaf nation. I can actually say it's a fun time to be a leaf fan.

There's still time for Toronto to Fudge this up. JF jr. is tripping over himself to deal that pick for Stamkos' rights in some alternate universe.

Not even close if they offer both. They've both underperformed and while there's still talent there they are damaged goods IMO. Nuge is not big enough to play as a number one centre either, plus he has a history of injuries. Yak has a career high of 33 points and a career -88 in 4 years. Between the 2 of them they have 3 seasons of 64+ games out of 9 combined seasons. Definitely no thanks.

Congrats Leafs fans - you don't have to feel the disappointment of losing the lottery (big surprise).

The lottery is still a complete hoax and full of BS to me. Hey you finished last, but were going to give this team that barely missed the playoffs a chance to pick before you in the draft. Cool? Cool. Such a load of garbage that they are now assigning the top 3 via little balls in a machine.

Also my favorite quote of all of this comes from Shanahan:

"We earned this, the hard way."

What on earth does that even mean, and how do you figure you EARNED winning a lottery? Blows my mind when people say stuff like that.

Should be fun watching Matthews vs. Eichel for years to come I hope.

As a Jets fan, I am absolutely through the roof about Laine. Before this process I felt that he possessed the highest ceiling in this class - so dynamic, with his speed, size, and out of this world shot. Matthews, without a shadow of a doubt, is going to be a steady center from day one for the Leafs. However, for the Jets, and our terrible PP woes, I think adding a guy who can play in the "Ovechkin Island" spot and rip blasts is going to add such an interesting element to our team.

Our top six with Ehlers, Connor, and Laine added to our established core is going to be quite fun to watch.

Go Jets Go!
