OK, one more thread and this time Panini redemptions.

Like B. Price said:
If you say your going to make a card, make it. If you can't make it, take it out of the product and let collectors know that it has been removed.

Just make no sense to wait 4-5months or MORE for a card that should have been live in the product...

I have 1 pending, been 3months now(Certified, Shattenkirk jersey/auto /25). My first redemption ever, and it will be my last since I only buy ITG and they do not have any redemption.

Can't wait to see what I will get if I can't get the original card...

I see Panini taking a fast ride down the road from hero to bum if they dont get this taken care of stat! They only get one chance to make a first impression in the hobby with their product and this is not the way to make a good one. Frankly, Im not touching these products after seeing whats going on......

So what is the compensation? We all complained about UD and now how many redemptions do they offer? Now I really don't want to hear how hard it is to get players to sign, if it is that hard then you need some type of compensation. :|

not that i'm defending Panini or anything (though i'll give them the benefit of the doubt their first year) but why do people feel entitled to compensation? everyone knows full well what they're getting themselves into when redeeming a card and waiting for it comes with the territory. if the card manufacturer fulfills your redemption, you get your card. if they can't fulfill your redemption, they say they give you a replacement. where does compensation even come up?

I know from following their blog they've got a lot of the autos collected now from the likes of Hall and Subban, and it's just a matter of time until stuff starts getting out the door. They've repeatedly noted that they hate redemptions as much as we do, and are doing what they can while also focusing on getting all the new releases ready to roll with as much live content as possible.

If some players have indeed returned their auto'd stickers, I don't see why there is a hold up. Has anyone gotten a redemption back yet?
Does Panini not have different departments to look after different projects?
Maybe one of the Panini guys can answer this.

There's no way Panini will be sending out hard signed autos for all the redemptions currently pending. The ones that are meant to be stickers will be stickers and the same goes for the hard signed ones. I have no problem with that. I just want the cards I redeemed

Some of the Certifield RC's had sticker and hard signed autos. So it could be done, but again not likely.

I have one redemption to redeem, I would rather get something back for it now rather then having to wait for who knows how long.

That is just it they offer no compensation. UD now will generally offer a better card as a replacement. Ya I know in they didn't always but they do now, why you might ask well, because it's good business. See what happened when they had poor business practices.

I think Panini needs to be really careful when announcing cards "in house" to collectors, especially when they get overly excited and start showing pictures on their blog. At the very least they should explain how long the delay is going to be from when they're "in house" until they ship. There's a big difference between cards being in hand and cards ready to ship to customers. A lot of collectors don't realize that. When you say they're in stock, collectors take that as meaning they're ready to fulfill. Normally the cards aren't even serial numbered until they're "in house". Then there's the entire QC process. A lot of time goes by from when they get the cards to when they're stamped and shipped to collectors.

This. Excellent.

When the Habs were down in Texas last month they got some signings done with PK Subban and Carey Price. I'm fully comfortable knowing that Panini has the cards (PK's Certified RC is hard-signed, and the Limited patch is separate from the actual card) and that it is just a matter of time until they're ready to roll. My heart is not going to fall to pieces if I don't get the cards shipped 48 hours after they get the signing done because I want them to do the QC thing, get it right, and make sure that they send me #76/799 and #76/299, respectively. :)

This business of saying that Panini hired all the worst of UD and that they're going down the same path and that people deserve extra compensation...I think that the David Dingwall "I'm entitled to my entitlements" wing of the hobby needs to take a cue from Carey Price and chill out.

@ vegaspuck: great reply! You say what I am thinking.

For me as a players-collector it´s a kick in my .... if they don´t bring the cards . I paid big bucks for Paajarvis low #ed rookies . I don´t want a compensation! I want that Paajarvi RC for my collection. That was the reason I invested my money into that card!

If you sell something you can´t deliver you will get problems with the law. And you can´t say...ooops, I give you a compensation.

Hey, if people are comfortable sitting back and being dictated too I'm good with that. Not me brother, you got my cash so get working on my cards. Sorry, I'm not a sheep, but I will gladly prey on one.

As for Price, ahhh he will be partying to hard to make the playoffs, again. That is the price of doing business with him. :owned:

My biggest beef so far concerning Panini and redemptions are the Tough Customers autograph redemptions for players they seemed to have failed to sign to any kind of agreement. Guys like Dave Brown were removed from the base set of Tough Customers and not inserted into packs, yet his redemption was. Why? If they can't get the guys picture on a card then why put in a redemption for the autograph? They did this for a few guys and it has me baffled.

the one, sometimes even 2, redemptions per pack in Certified is completely inexcusable imo.

And how is this cost effective for Panini anyways with the added costs of hiring personnel, shipping, materials etc

I suppose that's one extreme way to look at it.

If you wish to get your back up to this extent because you don't get to put newest shiny card in its storage box for an extra two weeks, so be it, that's your prerogative and you're entitled to express that frustration. But can the hyperbole that people who have patience and are understanding that there's a process involved are somehow "sheep" who are fine with being "dictated to" by UD and Panini. They've got the cards of my guy in-house after they were able to track him down, now they have to finalize them and get them all prepped and packed. Steps in the process, my man, that's all it is.

The system is what it is - griping about it here isn't going to get Taylor Hall or Brayden Schenn or Dany Heatly or any of them to actually sign the stuff that much quicker. As much as I'm sure that Panini would just love to be able to fly people to all 30 cities with cheques and sticker sheets and cards in hand so that every card be live on release, it don't work that way unless you want your packs of hockey cards to cost a lot more. The tales of epic player laziness on this front are well-known so at least be fair and apportion a great percentage of the blame game to them.

The last part of that post doesn't really deserve a response.

I usually hate redemptions but I went for a 10-11 Limited Staal brothers Trio Auto redemption. Just redeemed it 2 days ago. If this fails I give up on redemptions.

Sucks too, Jordan's 10-11 SPGU Team Marks are redemptions...ugh!

Doesn't he have a broken hand? Hard to sign no?

He's been good for a while now, and I am not expecting hard signed anyway. If Panini can slap sticker autos on Eric's, Marc's and Jordan's cards that are distributed in packs, I am sure they can slap all 3 stickers on a 1 card redemption.

Would be worth the wait if it were hard signed....but I won't hold my breath.

But didnt panini just show a bunch of pics of Taylor Hall signing his cards, which looked like the Donruss set, wouldnt they have him sign all the sets that he has redemptions in as well, i am pretty sure that they looked like on card autos that should have maybe been a sticker set.

Straight from the article you mention:

For what it’s worth, all of the autographs Hall signed Monday night were on-card. He did say that his stickers were in Edmonton and that he would return them as soon as he gets home. He also apologized to Panini America collectors for the wait. If that’s not Rookie of the Year material, we don’t know what is.

Like I said, sometimes it ain't the manufacturer's fault. :)

i'm with you on the part where i also think that the waiting is usually due on the part of the athlete but i think the OPs problem, as he intially mentions, is where Panini has told people the autos are in house and would be "shipped out soon." months later and now still no change. vegaspuck posted some very insightful info into why there may be such a long time between when cards coming in house and actually being mailed out though.

that aside, just curious, has anyone received any redemptions from Panini yet?

Just curious, of those players that we have either formally or informally announced their autos arrival, who actually has a redemption in the cue? I'd like to do some research on my side and see if I can find a bottle neck of any kind.

I think they should just hire one person in every NHL city to, once a month, go to the arena and get these things signed. I'll volunteer to be in Columbus. Just send me the stickers and cards before every release, give me a press pass, and I'll get them back to you within a week. Heck I'd probably do it for $100 a month. It's just a silly idea, but I'm sure there are 29 other guys around NHL citys that would love to do this as well. $3,000 a month to get autos from every city is probably less than they pay some of their employees who do sit and watch over auto sessions.

Sounds nice, but it doesn't work that way. First off, you can't get autos with a "press pass", it says loud and clear on the back of the pass. Second, there's this little thing called player agents who protect these guys like their newborn young. Anything you do with the player on the signing front has to pass muster with them first. Not that the idea is totally without merit; it's just not as simple as you may think. If it were, we'd have done it already.

I've got Certified and Limited redemptions for PK Subban. :)
