Patch forger... caught! gomaz would be proud ;)

Avalanchefan - That's not likely our forger at work. In addition, the seller is reputable and very likely got duped on that one. It happens even to the best of us.

And for those talking forgiveness - Ask the people who got bilked if they wanna forgive. Think any of Madoff's victims would feel any better knowing that ol' Bernie was repentant? I doubt it.

Integrity isn't something you acquire like a patch. Either you've got it or you don't. If you don't, you can win it back but it's a long, hard, painful road and most won't bother to try. I doubt our forger would.

Now he's sunk even lower!

When we gave him an initial 6 month ban from attending the show it was to be revisited at that time and conditional upon him making a turnaround on his reputation and we even went so far as to expect a 20+ page thread on a message board declaring that his reputation had turned around before we do. We didn't expect the ban to ever be lifted, but now this just takes the cake.

I don't think he cares about his reputation at all. He made money doing what he does and now he's just going to run away and hope he takes some people down with him. It's just sad since I dealt with him on many occasions and I would have never figured he would do such a bogus act.

John - If he has the nerve to show up at Expo please alert me. That's a show I don't wanna miss.

If he were to take that high road then it would be a success story. But even moreso now I share the same doubt.

I'll be glad to have a few words with him if he shows up at the next Leaside show or the Expo.

Those words would have to be shared off the grounds since he's been banned from the Leaside show.

Hopefully the hockey guys are less talk and more action as compared the baseball guys and Kevin Burge...

I'm sure some of the hockey guys are going to ask who Kevin Burge is :)

So guys...Kevin Burge = shoeless_joejackson on eBay (or something like that.) He's got a really high feedback rating, but he's known in the hobby for attempting to rip people off left and right, whether it be through eBay INR or trimming and grading vintage cards.

I don't know who you'd compare him to in the hockey hobby. I don't think leaffandan's at his scale, and certainly not his level of notoriety amongst the general population.

Burge has at least 6 different Ebay IDs if I am not mistaken at this point. Some for buying, some for selling, etc. Shoeless is the most famous and fro all that he has done to folks, this thread pales in comparison ultimately. So if you guys are able to get something done here, please then turn your focus to him :)

The estimate that I heard about Burge is that he's sold in excess of $700,000 in forged cards...

That's a lot of zeros Bruce . For that amount of coin I'm sure something unpleasant is coming his way from the legal system, I would think. In the very least a free kick to his junk from every person this tool has ripped off :foottap:. Man, the hobby really has come a long way from the early 70's when I started. Some good, a lot more bad these days :(. -Mike

I wouldnt doubt it, heck if it was more than that I wouldnt be surprised. I've personally never dealt with him or any of his IDs (to my knowledge) and wont because of the hundreds of cases of forgery, trimming, faking, etc that have been levied against him. To this point nothing has come of it other than I do believe he has lost some business from those on the boards and such.

Unfortunately the number of people crazy enough to read card message boards like us here and at other boards is really a miniscule percentage as compared to the hobby as a whole.

Burge was set up at the Cleveland National in 2006...haven't seen him since. Maybe the baseball guys are a little more bite than bark now.

He was there this year as well and was actually confronted by a few folks from FCB but most of the talkers shrivelled up and walked away.

Since we're on the topic might as well list his ebay ID's for everyone as well.

This is getting more depressing every time I catch up on this post. Bruce, do you know (If anything) what is Upper Deck's stance on fixing this problem? Photo database etc.......

Thanks, HawksFan67

He was at the National and the East Coast National within the last two months still trying to underpay for cheap cards to mess with and also still causing havoc. The few guys that did say anything to him basically stated they wouldnt buy/sell to him and the rest that said they were there and would say something didnt. Burge is continuing to move his wares through his IDs, at shows, etc. with absolutely nothing happening to this point.

I am not sure if this is relevant at all, but I recall a time I was at the infamous Queensway Sports Cards here in Toronto and the person in question was able to forge several star NHL players autographs to absolute perfection. I just thought it was neat at the time, but now knowing what he is about it makes a whole lot of sense...
