Patrick Kane potentially in trouble again

He's basically saying she didn't do anything illegal technically, but she's a huge moron. Way to go :devil:

There's a lot of really stupid and/or immoral things that people do that aren't crimes.

This is all sideshow/noise/malarkey going on. None of it actually affects the core issue here. Though the alleged victim's lawyer resigned, he did say that he doesn't feel as though the actual core of the matter has been cast into doubt. You can't fault the daughter for the sins of the mother...as it were.
 
So should we assume an out of court settlement is now not an option? If I were Kane (making the assumption this will all soon be over) I would seek the option of a counter lawsuit. Something tells me he just wants this (negative attention) all to be over and quick.

Amen to that. Social media has a massive pool of idiots who feel invincible and above the law (or even human decency). I am not shocked by this unfortunately, especially given all the drama with 670 The Score in Chicago. Their radio hosts have been brutal in regards to Kane and the Blackhawks, some of them already wanted him in an electric chair before the facts started coming out. I'm surprised we haven't seen more of this, they seriously ticked off the fan base in Chicago, so much that for almost an entire day they shut down their feedback and email systems because they were being flooded by angry people. It's not just the idiots on Tweeter or Facebook that need to be accountable, ALL media people should be accountable for how they incite the public with bad information.

Lawyers can say anything they want but let us not forget, this went to the grand jury. That requires the police establishing a case against the accused.

On the flip side, Kobe was never convicted...... I'm sure he never did it either.

No - if you read the story it is a very real conclusion.
Her story did not hold up to the re-tells - they dropped any inclination to even proceed with an indictment. Not 'still under investigation' , there is no validity to the claims.

Exactly.....we should talk about how great a season Pat is off to. My gut tells me this was a huge wakeup call for Kane and he will learn a lesson about the company he keeps going forward.

It got as far as a Grand Jury, and she's stopped cooperating because of the way the investigation is turning. It doesn't mean no crime is committed, but the cavalier attitude of calling her a "gold digger" is beyond uncool.

Until the Grand Jury event, there was no negotiation of any kind. We've never once heard she would make this go away for $X. A civil suit was never filed.

It's his conclusion. If it's yours too, I'm glad I don't know you.

1) investigation found that physical and forensic evidence "tend to contradict" the accuser's claim
2) reasons for dropping the case include "significant material inconsistencies" in the accounts of the accuser and other witnesses and that physical evidence tended "to contradict" her claim that she was raped on Kane's bed.
3) The case took a strange turn in September when the accuser's lawyer quit the case after the woman's mother was allegedly involved in a hoax designed to cast doubts on how the police handled the DNA evidence in the case.

Sorry - but when the evidence tends to contradict the accusers claim, I am pretty sure that the general feeling is that no crime was committed. As far as being a gold digger - the definition of a gold digger is someone who associates or marries for material gain.
I just happen to equate a fame seeker with the same qualities.

Not that I like or dislike Kane - but in this case I am pretty sure he was being targeted by this young woman. The prosecutor did not say he was not charging Kane at this time - he said he was not charging him. She stopped co-operating because the evidence was showing her to be untruthful.

The Grand Jury was scheduled, then cancelled. The reason shared publicly was because there were negotiations happening. And then the case fell apart.

There's a lot of reasons why her story might not have added up or made sense. It's a traumatic event. There could be mental illness issues present too.

I'm not saying that it's impossible that this was her intention, but when people leap from the lack of evidence to try him to "gold digger", it hurts the victims of sexual assault. Only 7% of rapes actually lead to arrest. (Source: https://rainn.org/get-information/statistics/reporting-rates)

This is a touchy area, and to be so brazen in concluding that she had to be a "gold digger" when so much is unknown is very, very harmful to discourse on the topic. We have to respect that we don't know what really happened here.

in this case I think it's pretty clear she was looking for money. If she did in fact get raped I doubt she would go this far and then decide against it. If there was a case the DA would've went through with it. I have 4 daughters, a wife , a sister and many female cousins. If he did rape her I'll be the first one in line to hang him. But it's pretty clear to me what her intentions were.
