Just how bad is the mail right now?

Registered mail is back to being less then a week inside Canada.

Regular letter mail is still taking 3+ weeks from Ontario or Quebec to Calgary.

Learned something new today, you can track your packages from US to Canada using the customs form number. So I shipped about a week apart back in early December to the same person. He received the first one, but not the second. It looks like it is still in transit, mailed December 7. Tracked the first package for the hell of it and here is the history (it starts at the end):

Major Covid outbreak at the mail sorting and processing facility in Mississauga - give things an extra 2-3 weeks on top of current delays. One of my wife's friends works there and has been sent home to quarantine. (no, she cannot keep an eye out for your cards)

So this is a first. Ordered a couple young guns from a seller on ebay back in June. Month goes by nothing so I contact them and they insure me they sent. Wait another month still nothing so again contact seller and this time he just refunds me. Cheap cards only $8 so whatever that was the end of it. So today my neighbor knocks on my door and hands me a bubble. Had his address on it but my name so he brought it to me. I’m expecting a few packages so thought nothing of it thought it was one of them. Finally get a chance to go through it and discover it was the missing cards from my purchase way back in June. Weirdest thing is talking to my neighbor it was just left on his front step and envelope was already opened. We have a community box so nothing gets left at our front doors. Can’t wrap my head around what happened. Got delivered to the wrong address and they decided to just drop it off 7 months later? Odd one for sure. Guess you never know things can always show up.

It is confusing. I am still waiting on two items from Quebec that I bought in late December, but one I bought late last week from Quebec arrived today. Makes no sense.

Sent a package out last Sunday to LA and it was accepted at the post office but no updates since then. Tracking says that it's in transit and ETA is Feb. 5th so let's hope that holds true.

Just received a PC item /5 from Quebec to BC that took 36 days to arrive. Mailed out December 28th.

It's certainly nerve racking when it hangs out in "In Transit" for days on end with no updates. But I know the package at least got through customs, so the waiting continues.

I mailed a bubble envelope, with tracking, from New Brunswick on Dec. 16. It stalled in Montreal, Quebec, from Dec. 21 to Jan. 16 before showing up in New York. It then arrived in Florida on Jan. 25. The young collector was nervous but very pleased when his cards arrived.

I had almost the exact same thing happen. I sent out a package with tracking to the United Kingdom on December 15th. It arrived in Montreal on the 21st and sat there until January 18th. Then it was forwarded onward, arrived in the UK 2 days later and was delivered on Jan. 28th. Guy was very understanding though so that helped. Start getting a little nervous though when there was no update on the tracking for almost a month.

And now for something completely different...

Fellow forum member "The Big M" and I finalized a trade yesterday and he sent his end via registered mail yesterday, February 4 from Calgary. I received it today, February 5, in Hamilton.

As The Big M mentioned to me in PM, this has got to be some kind of world record.
