Hopefully UD owns the creative on it and not Tim Hortons - I'd love to see similar subsets that we saw with McDonalds and not just a 10-20 card set with a Crosby auto seeded 1 in 100000000000000000 packs.
 
I knew when Crosby signed a Timmies exclusive a few years back this was coming, and it's about time they found a new way to put packs in the hands of the people that matter most in our hobby. THE KIDS!

Now, (slight rant forthcoming) to all of you grown adults and Tim Horton's employees who read this, PLEASE do not try and and scam or purchase your way into a glut of these cards! Sure you can PERHAPS make a buck or two off of them, but if you're denying even ONE youngster a chance at joining our hobby, or at least planting the seed to do so... well we all lose in the end. I say WE because that's a trade or sale YOU YOURSELF could miss out on in the future!

If you know of such a person, please appeal to them to think long term here. It isn't every day our hobby gets a chance to reach so many younger kids. Let's use our chances wisely, or we're all dinosaurs.

* Packs are 100 per box/sleeve.


My source says the packs are supposed to "last until May"...

Exactly - if the keep to their promotion of one pack max per coffee (that's the way I understand it), they could last more than a month... but if the demand and value is out there, selling them at $1.99 per pack may see a mad rush for them to be sold...

The level of shenanigans is going to be based on potential inserts, the rarity of them and the value. If it's just a base set with 100 Crosby autos randomly inserted, I can see the fervor dropping quickly. There's going to be millions of packs, so 100 autos aren't going to have people spending $200 on a sleeve of cards.

I'm curious to see the final product makeup before going into too many what ifs...

Edit - nevermind - I missed the tagline on the photo proclaiming autos, jerseys, relics and #1 draft redemptions... this is going to be piefight that's over in about 45 seconds. May? Laughable.
 
This will be a great return to the hobby. Pacific and UpperDeck both had great McDonalds sets. Many people worked and finished these master sets minus redemptions. At one time the McDonalds redemptions were brutally expensive but now they rarely sell at those high prices (still sell for good money). This may generate some interest in people finishing their old sets. I look forward to this set and seeing new people looking to collect.

I hope the rules will be followed. I remember people buying backdoors boxes of 100 packs of McDonalds.

It wasn't "backdoor". It was front door. You could go in, buy a gunny sack of hashbrowns or whatever and the packs of cards that go with.

Or if you choose not to buy a coffee this time - it's $1.99/pack as mentioned earlier
 
Plus you don't have to bring your kids eating junk to get the cards! lol

Someone on the other forums stated that these will be available September 30th? Nothing official yet, so no word on if that is the start date. I'm so excited for this, can't wait to buy a few packs.

Now THIS is how you get kids back into the hobby. Fun cards available to the masses. Excellent job UD!

Exactly, the employees were not checked, specially at night shifts and we could get boxes of packs ''backdoors''. The money was going straight to the employee's pocket...
or some were opening the packs and keep the autos...

anyway, we know it will happen but hopefully not has much...

I know at the store I worked at there was always cases of cards left at the end of the promotion. The owner would then sell the cases at cost to whoever wanted them.

Whoever bought boxes from employees knowing they were pocketing the cash is a thief themselves. If you're dealing with the owner that's a different story since HE decides what he does with his property.
 
I worked at McDonald's during the World Series years and you could simply walk up and ask for a sleeve and get charged $1 per pack. The money card was the Roberto Alomar autographed card that everyone and their grandmother wanted.

I'm surprised that no mention has been made by Tim's considering it's supposed to start next week.
