That's a well organized marketing campaign!

Sounds fun, long shot on the jersey's/auto's, but the inserts don't sound to hard to hit. not a bad checklist overall, will be a nice set when it's done.

Spoke to an old friend yesterday, who works at a Timmies in the St. Thomas area, and mentioned the hockey cards to her, and she knew nothing about it, and didn't really believe me. Then I got this message today from her:

You were right about the hockey cards, we got one shipment and when they are gone that's all

There are tons of Timmies stores all over, so lots to go around, but these may not be as plentiful as we'd hope if they are only getting one shipment per store, and only a few boxes each location? Waiting to here back on how much they got at her store.

She told me they got 3 cases in at her store, but she isn't sure how many are in each case.

So 87 auto timbit cards means times 94,703 means 82,391,161 packs.
Mathalettes does that seem right?

I think you have an extra 1 there. I calculated 8,239,161

A few other numbers off the top of my calculator (if my calculation was right)....

Approx 76 available of each autograph
Approx 61 available of each jersey
Approx 25 of each autographed jersey card

Odds of pulling one of the big 4 hits (including Crosby auto) is 1 in 3379 packs.

Keep in mind that I got something like 60% in Math 12 so take all these numbers with a grain of salt.

Anyone else think that's too big a base set? I think McD's capped around 50.

Looking at the numbers, perfect collation would mean buying 34 packs. At 2 bucks a shot (with or without coffee it's about the same) you're putting in over 70 with taxes.

I think I'll get a couple packs to trade for the jets but that'll be it for me.

Looking at the base set, I can't help but think that it looks like what a normal Black Diamond base set would've looked like this year.
That said, this should be a fun little project. Maybe put together the base and inserts. Plus virtual collecting is always fun (curse you Star Wars Card Trader), and with prizes like that? Why not!

Thanks for the checklist and the odds. Wow, UD wasn't kidding when they said they were going to make fewer McDavid rookies compared to Crosby. Not sure how kids are going to get into/stay in the hobby if it's nearly impossible to get a McDavid rookie in the most affordable sets...but that's a topic for another thread.

They're releasing this set before the start of the season so McDavid can't be included. Pretty simple

#1 NHL Draft Pick Redemption Card Set Checklist
#1 NHL Draft Pick

Would those not have McDavid in them? I'm sure they will have to hold any of players back until they play one NHL game?

Yes, the redemptions will be McDavid but they obviously couldn't have him as part of the base set like Crosby was back in his rookie year

McDavid is in the set. He's the redemption card, but my point was the odds of pulling a McDavid redemption are pretty long. In contrast, Crosby's McDonald's cards could easily be pulled from packs.

This set is definitely meant to be bigger than the McDonalds set and is likely meant to last longer and be more involved... I like that levels of difficulty involved, and thank goodness, there isn't a checklist in EVERY freakin' pack! lol

Matt, your math looks about right... 8 million plus packs sounds like a lot, but it won't last long... definitely not until May. I do wonder if only stores are getting them, or if the various kiosks around in airport terminals, etc. would also get them...

Again, if they had done this say in March, McDavid would be in the set. They CAN'T have live cards of his until he plays an NHL game
