Just how bad is the mail right now?

I am told any mail from outside of Canada is being held up for 14 days due to Covid-19. Do not know if internal mail is affected by this also.

That seems excessive since in lab conditions the virus doesn’t survive past 72 hours outside a body

I’m having an issue, second time in the last couple weeks where an eBay package destined for my PO Box ends up in a PO Box with the same number in a city about an hour away. Nothing is being imputed wrong by the seller and my address is correct on eBay. It’s a major issue because whomever owns that box could keep my package and it’s marked as delivered via PayPal, even though it says it’s delivered to a completely different zip code and a different city.

Hooray! My package from Montreal which was shipped on May 11th has arrived! Tracking was never updated by Canada Post. It does look like it may have had an adventure though.

How bad is the mail? Maple is an hour and a half from here...

For regular mail (as in, not tracked), is it getting better or worse for you guys? I've picked up tons of stuff over the past month or 2, but I'd say less than 50% of it has arrived so far. Deals within a 20 minute drive have taken up to 3 weeks....

Regular mail crossing the Quebec border into Maine is coming pretty quickly. It's the higher priced items that are tracked and have custom sheets that are taking forever.

Still waiting on a package from Canada from the first week of March, as is the guy I traded with. Guessing at this point there’s a bad link in the chain somewhere up there because I know my package made it into Canada after just a few days (mailed prior to COVID-19 affecting things).

In the meantime, I’ve been receiving packages from Canada in as little as 8-10 days. Just got one from edmonton the other day after just 8 days.

Stuff from Vancouver / Calgary is getting here since it is going to sorting in Ottawa and here within one day or two, IF you are paying $15 CAD!

Within Ontario, different scenarios, cards from London / GTA it takes a longer since IT is going thru the GTA sorting facility and I was told "they have a backlog"!

With mail needing to be sorted, each sorting facility is probably dealing with it differently. Here locally, they are sorting on weekends (no deliveries) but the parcel post IS being sorted and usually out on Monday / Tuesday!

I think Canada is holding (quarantining?) incoming mail at the border for two weeks. I've had two parcels coming from the States sit idle at the customs stage for two weeks before finally moving through. Meanwhile the stuff I'm sending to the States is getting to the buyers in like a week.

Right, but this trade is now approaching 3.5 MONTHS for both sides. And the package I sent got into Canada before this even started...I would have to check tracking, but my package got into Canada I believe around March 10, somewhere right around there, maybe a day or two earlier.

The sorting plant in Ottawa was closed several years ago. Anything coming from the NCR itself or east of the city goes through Montreal now which is the real bottleneck.

NOT what I have seen lately especially Xpresspost / Registered MAIL.
Regular mail especially BUBBLERS, it might take longer.

Yes, I am talking about all those bubble mailers going regular mail, they now all go through Montreal for sorting.

This Xpresspost package is at least getting closer to Fredericton. Dieppe is two hours away.

Just wanted to inform that letters from end April are finally getting through from Finland to US and Canada. Also letters sent a week ago are getting through so postal system is making some progress.
